Shane McGee
Upon joining ICLC, I had originally planned to study for a mere three months. However, after experiencing the school and its wealth of assets, I quickly decided to stay for the full year and a half course. The school's program is very disciplined and gradually takes you from an elementary level to more advanced levels of Japanese. I was very pleased with both the quality of teachers as well as the textbooks used in the course. Yet another of the school's advantages is its international environment. In addition to learning from and interacting with Japanese teachers, one also has the chance to interact with people from a variety of cultures. These people merge to create a small school with immense personality and character. Looking back on what is now two and a half years in Japan, I can honestly say that ICLC significantly helped me make the most of my time here.

Being a student of ICLC was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The curriculum allows the students to be constantly immersed in the Japanese language and culture, providing the ideal circumstances in which to learn a foreign language. The teachers are genuinely dedicated to the progress of their students, and spare no effort in paying special care to slow learners, as well as challenging quick learners. The textbooks used (the Minna no Nihongo series) are easy to understand, and present the subject material in a format that makes it possible for people of all ages and nationalities to study together in the same classroom. The morning lessons allow students time to have a part time job, attend another school, or explore Okinawa in the afternoons. The dormitories are close to the center of Naha, and are only a walk, bike ride, or bus ride away from the school, the post office, the multimedia center, or the beach. The friendly staff of ICLC is always glad to help its students with anything, from getting an alien registration card, to finding the way to the post office, and may soon become your second family on Okinawa. All in all, I am extremely glad that I attended a school that provided such excellent education and kind personal care.
